As a government contractor, you may be required to travel overseas across the globe. To keep productivity up and business running, it is key to protect yourself and your employees from preventable disease and infection while abroad.

Which Vaccines Do Government Contractors Need?

Government contractor vaccination needs can vary based on the type of job the contractor performs. Generally, the following vaccinations are recommended for foreign and/or domestic contractors: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), pneumonia and influenza.

See the bullets below to learn more about some of these key immunizations:

  • Cholera –
    Food & Water –
May be recommended for travel to some lesser developed countries especially in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

Protects against liver infection, long-lasting protection through booster dose
  • Hepatitis B –
    Blood & Body Fluids –
Liver infection commonly spread through needles, medical equipment or direct contact with body fluids. Vaccination is the best form of protection.

  • Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) –
    Various Vectors –
Vaccination recommended for anyone without evidence of immunity and/or born after 1957.
  • Pneumonia –
    Airborne –
Two vaccines given separately. Both are recommended for all over the age of 65, those with certain medical conditions or immunocompromised.
  • Rabies –
    Saliva of Infected Animals –
Vaccine recommended for certain travelers based on destination, activities and length of stay.
  • TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis) –
    Wounds & Airborne –
A tetanus booster vaccination is recommended for all adults once every ten years.
  • Typhoid –
    Food & Water –
Recommended for travel to most countries.
